Food allergies affect many individuals in Louisiana and across the nation and these individuals may go to great lengths to ensure the products they consume pose no threat to their health. However, if a product contains ingredients that do not appear on the label, there could be no way of knowing the danger involved. Dangerous products such as consumables with undeclared ingredients could cause those who ingest the item to suffer severe allergic reactions in the process.

Reports indicate that popular chain retail store Trader Joe’s has recently placed a recall order on a gluten free brand item found to contain undeclared allergens. The company has advised that more than 350 cases of the product have already been either made ready for purchase or bought by consumers. Although the product is labeled as gluten free, it is said to contain ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction among those with milk or wheat allergies.

While some of those who choose to purchase gluten free products may do so as a personal preference, others may have medical conditions that require them to steer clear of certain ingredients. As such, companies have a duty to provide a detailed list of product ingredients on the label and failure to do so could bring about devastating ramifications. While in some cases, an allergic reaction could cause little more than minor discomfort, in others, such reactions could prove severe or even potentially life-threatening.

Food items with undeclared ingredients could prove to be dangerous products that may pose a serious threat to one’s health. Individuals who suffer harm due to such negligence may wish to seek accountability through a products liability claim, but they may need assistance in preparing for what comes next. Fortunately, there are attorneys in Louisiana who can advise a client on the best course of action to take and assist in pursuing the compensation deserved through a claim against all parties deemed responsible.
